Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Minecraft gained worldwide acclaim due in large part to its sandbox design that valued the autonomy of its users. By investigating the archived fan art, writings, and screencasts of children who grew up playing this game, we can gain insight into how third space virtual realms can spark deep, authentic learning. The phenomenon of this pixelated game has had a ubiquitous place in many homes around the world where 8- to 12-year-olds reside. The online access to screencast tutorials about Minecraft has aggregated some of the largest crowdsourced learning environments and deserves thoughtful investigation into its relevancy for education.
